Love is the Force that Transforms

-An excerpt from Rumi’s poem: No Room for Form
“And don’t look for me in human shape,
I am inside your looking. No room
For form with love this strong.”From Rumi’s poem, “No Room For Form” (Read the full poem here)
Form is the physical. It is when the ego is in charge that we identify with the physical; when we are rooted in the form.
Love, is the force of transformation. Love is the force of improvement. Love breaks free the true self from the form. The true self being ultimate connectedness to all things. The form being identifying with separation.
“Because it’s not love to be static like the desert, nor is it love to roam the world like the wind. And it’s not love to see everything from a distance, like you do. Love is the force that transforms and improves the Soul of the World.” The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
When I am in love I am extra focused on being my best self. Which is to say I am more easily in the flow of transformation and growth when I am loving. Not just my wife or children or siblings or parents or friends or self… But everyone and anyone. When I love a hater I am helping them rather than fueling them and the hatred in us both. Which is of course also helping myself both on a form (individual) level and on a transformative, universal, connectivity level.
“When we love, we always strive to become better than we are. When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.”
-From ‘The Alchemist’ by Paulo Coelho
Love is learning. We learn everything we can about what we love. The people. The activities. The ideas. We indulge and delve deeper. We seek out solutions to obstacles.
Learning is a skill that can be developed and improved. Learning how to learn is an activity with many quality teachers and experiences to guide us. Learning is love. Love is a skill that can be developed and improved.
“When you are loved, you can do anything in creation. When you are loved, there’s no need at all to understand what’s happening, because everything happens within you...”
-From ‘The Alchemist’ by Paulo Coelho
As human beings we can achieve anything in the realm of possibility. This is the theory of positivity that we here at Think Positive Apparel purport to be the most effective. Achieving the best of what is possible is a realm we struggle as individuals to scratch the surface of and yet collectively can realize with more ease. Learn which plants will kill you in the wild on your own? Trial and error of learning to safely test and listen. Have a chain of human existence to pull from? Easy breezy. Go to the moon on your own: impossible! But as a species working together: just a matter of want!
The point is that we are all working together for the best of what we as humans do. Any growth in our lives is a direct result of others loving us. That is the nature of being helpless infants to start. This ripples trough out our lives. Everything we have as far as shelter, food, sanitation, understanding of math and the universe and history, all of it is only because of the love that exists within humanity. That is the transformation, the growth.
Love drives us to transform and improve. As Paulo Coelho says in his amazing book, The Alchemist, “When you are loved, you can do anything in creation.” And you are loved.
Here is the full poem by Rumi called “No Room for Form”:
“No Room for Form” by Rumi
On the night when you cross the street
From your shop and your house
To the cemetery
You’ll hear me hailing you from inside
The open grave, and you’ll realize
How we’ve always been together.
I am the clear consciousness-core
Of your being, the same in
Ecstasy as in self-hating fatigue.
That night, when you escape your fear of snakebite
And all irritations with the ants, you’ll hear
My familiar voice, see the candle being lit,
Smell the incense, the surprise meal fixed
By the lover inside all your other lovers.
This heart tumult is my signal
to you igniting in the tomb.
So don’t fuss with the shroud
And the graveyard dust.
Those get ripped open and washed away
In the music of our final meeting.
And don’t look for me in human shape,
I am inside your looking. No room
For form with love this strong.
Beat the drum and let the poets speak.
This is the day of purification for those who
Are already mature and initiated into what love is.
No need to wait until we die!
There’s more to want here than money
And being famous and eating bites of roasted meat.
Now, what shall we call this new sort of gazing house
That has opened in our town where people sit
Quietly and pour out their glancing
Like light, like answering?
And if you have not read ‘The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho, do yourself the favor and remedy that because it is a masterpiece in its offering of an easily accessible exploration of coincidences, our life’s purpose, and that inner compass that we all have 🙂
What say you on this notion that love is the force of transformation?
